Driving lessons Officer — on your real local roads

Looking for driving lessons Officer? Officer is one of the fastest-growing suburbs in Melbourne's south-east, and it's just down the road from our base in Berwick. That growth shapes how you learn here: brand-new estates full of roundabouts, school zones and give-way intersections, right next to the Princes Highway and the freeway.

Your lessons start on the quiet streets inside the estates, where you can get comfortable with steering, braking and observation. Then we build up to the roundabouts (Officer has plenty, and they're a common place to lose marks), the busier roads like Cardinia Road and the Princes Highway, and the traffic around the shops and the station.

Because new roads and intersections keep opening around Officer, learning with a local instructor means you practise on the layout as it is today. When you're ready, the freeway is close by for merging, lane changes and higher-speed driving.

Where you'll practise in Officer

  • Quiet estate streets to build confidence
  • Roundabouts and give-way intersections throughout the new estates
  • School zones around Officer's schools
  • Cardinia Road and the Princes Highway: busier local roads
  • Freeway merging and lane changes when you're ready

Your local test centre: VicRoads Pakenham

Most learners in the Cardinia Shire corridor sit their drive test at the Pakenham VicRoads customer service centre. In the lead-up to your test we rehearse the kinds of roads and manoeuvres examiners use around VicRoads Pakenham, and our test day package includes a warm-up lesson plus use of the instructor's car for the test itself.

Preparing for your drive test at Pakenham

Most learners in the Officer and Pakenham area sit their drive test at VicRoads Pakenham. The test starts with a short pre-drive check of the car, followed by two on-road stages; you only go on to the second stage once you've driven safely and competently in the first.

Roundabouts are a big part of driving around Officer and Pakenham, so we make sure you're confident choosing lanes, signalling and giving way on them. We also practise multi-lane intersections, merges and a reversing manoeuvre such as a parallel park or three-point turn.

Most learners who don't pass first time lose marks for missed mirror and blind-spot checks, hesitating at intersections, poor lane positioning or inconsistent speed. Every lesson in the lead-up targets those habits.

Before you can book your drive test

  • Hold your Ls long enough — if you're under 21, that's at least 12 months on your learner permit.
  • Log your 120 hours — 120 hours of supervised driving including 20 at night, recorded in your logbook or the myLearners app (for under-21 learners).
  • Pass the Hazard Perception Test — the VicRoads test you sit before the drive test.
  • Have an eligible car — clean, registered and roadworthy with a working handbrake, or simply use our dual-control car, which is included in the test-day package.

Why Officer learners choose Pathfinder

  • Just down the road from our Berwick base
  • Roundabout confidence for Officer's new estates
  • Pakenham test-style practice before test day
  • Automatic only, 7 days a week, patient one-on-one coaching

  • 7 days a week, 8am–6pm — mornings, evenings and weekends available.

Ready to start? You can book driving lessons Officer online any time, or compare our lesson prices and packages first. Before your drive test, make sure you've completed the VicRoads Hazard Perception Test, as it's required to sit your practical test at VicRoads Pakenham.
