Driving lessons Berwick — on your real local roads

Looking for driving lessons Berwick? Berwick is where Pathfinder Driving School is based, so this is the suburb we know best. Learning here means a real mix of driving in a small area: quiet streets in the newer estates, the busy historic High Street village, school zones, roundabouts, and the Princes Highway and Monash Freeway right on your doorstep.

Your lessons start on the calm residential streets, where you can get comfortable with steering, braking and observation without pressure. From there we build up to Berwick's busier roads (Clyde Road, Princes Highway and Harkaway Road), with plenty of roundabouts and multi-lane intersections along the way, then High Street, where parked cars, pedestrians and tight spaces test your judgement.

When you're ready, the Monash Freeway is only minutes away for merging, lane changes and higher-speed driving. Learning with a local instructor means you practise on the same roads you'll be driving every day once you have your Ps.

Your local test centre: VicRoads Dandenong

Most learners in the south-east sit their drive test at the Dandenong VicRoads customer service centre. In the lead-up to your test we rehearse the kinds of roads and manoeuvres examiners use around VicRoads Dandenong, and our test day package includes a warm-up lesson plus use of the instructor's car for the test itself.

Preparing for your drive test from Berwick

The drive test is a short pre-drive vehicle check followed by two on-road stages; you only continue to the second stage once you've driven safely and competently in the first. It usually takes around 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic.

In the lead-up we practise the kinds of roads and manoeuvres examiners use, including roundabouts, multi-lane intersections, lane changes, merges and a reversing manoeuvre such as a parallel park or three-point turn, so nothing on the day is unfamiliar.

Most learners who don't pass first time lose marks for the same few things: not enough mirror and blind-spot checks, hesitating at intersections instead of committing safely, poor lane positioning, and drifting over or well under the speed limit. Every test-prep lesson is aimed squarely at those.

Before you can book your drive test

  • Hold your Ls long enough — if you're under 21, that's at least 12 months on your learner permit.
  • Log your 120 hours — 120 hours of supervised driving including 20 at night, recorded in your logbook or the myLearners app (for under-21 learners).
  • Pass the Hazard Perception Test — the VicRoads test you sit before the drive test.
  • Have an eligible car — clean, registered and roadworthy with a working handbrake, or simply use our dual-control car, which is included in the test-day package.

Yes. Pathfinder Driving School is based in Berwick, so we know the local roads, school zones and busy spots well and can tailor your lessons to the driving you'll actually do.

It can feel busy at first, with parked cars, pedestrians, tight spaces and slow-moving traffic. We build up to it from quieter streets, so by the time you drive High Street you're comfortable judging gaps, checking mirrors and parking safely.

Yes. Once you're comfortable on local roads, the Monash Freeway is only minutes away, so we can practise merging, lane changes and higher-speed driving safely.

It depends on your experience. Complete beginners often take 10 or more lessons alongside supervised practice, while learners who already drive with family may only need a few focused lessons before the test. After your first lesson we'll give you an honest recommendation.
